The Kiwanis Club Circus was a lot of fun and a lot of work. The work for us began on Friday canvassing the neighborhoods near the arena with comp tickets to all. We went through around 300 comps! I was feeling kinda low with a couple of people problems but thankfully Lee was around to get a laugh and let me climb into his lamp where he told me warm and fuzzy tales and convinced me it was all going to be alright. With a few new people working in this show like Daniel who was our guest ringmaster and performed a wonderful job, we hung out and practiced until about 1am and then decided it was time to get to bed. Up at about 6:30 to start we were in the building and set by 12. Just in time to get makeup on as the doors opened at 1pm. The crowd was light with several other things going on in the area but, I did see a lot of our comps there! A lot of family and friends were there and that is always fun. This show had Jamie, Wendy, Tyler, Lee, Daniel, Nojoe and ran about 1.5 hours. It was great to have some breaks in there to breathe. The show began with a special dedication to Tim Holst. We had to shuffle a few things around but we were the only ones that knew except for the segment just before finale when Tyler tried to lead into the finale with another act still waiting to go on. He said "Hey NOJOE I wanna dance" to which I said "No you don't" and he countered with "Yes I do" once again "Trust me you don't" I was getting the look like "What are you doing?" Finally I convinced him to follow me back into the curtain where Jamie went on and killed with the Poi! We had so much fun and went to a good dinner after the load out. We leave for the Savannah GA area tomorrow for a couple of school shows. They're always a blast! I am coming to realize that there is only so much that one man can accomplish no matter how hard he works. That being said I am focusing strictly on my clowning and having fun with people and making meeting Nojoe a magical experience. I had a great time during the come in at the Kiwanis show just playing and clowning with the kids and that is what I need from this. Sometimes it's important to review yourself and remember why you do what you do. I wanna have fun!
